Medicine and Healthcare - NKC Hospital
North Kansas City Hospital: May 15 - 19, 2017
It has been a busy year for the 45 Northland CAPS Medicine and Healthcare associates based at North Kansas City Hospital!
During the 2016-2017 school year, the NKC Hospital associates from Park Hill, Park Hill South, Oak Park, North Kansas City, Northland Christian, and St. Pius High Schools have:
Learned American Heart Saver BLS CPR for infants and adults
Visited the BODY WORLDS Exhibit at Union Station
Participated in two disaster drills
Learned how to take patient vital signs and start an IV
Created a professional resume and learned behavioral interviewing skills
Completed 10 different CAPStone projects during the fall semester
Explored various careers in the healthcare field
Applied and interviewed for internships
Each student completed approximately 160 hours of internship time spring semester
Volunteered over 500 hours to local community service organizations!
It has been a lot fun to see the associates learn new skills and grow in their confidence this year. We wish them the best of luck and can’t wait to see what all they accomplish in the future!
